Mindfulness skills are proven to improve performance and reduce stress. Sessions are held in your classroom during a regular class period. High school and University level student sessions can also be scheduled for after school or evenings.
Each session involves a combination of learning and practice. Students are encouraged to practice new skills at home and school.
Mindfulness sessions are designed as an 8-week series, held during one class period each week. Alternatively, shorter versions of the training are available for 2 class periods or 4 class periods
Mindfulness 8 week series
Attention – Notice the present moment
In this session, you will familiarize participants with the two most important building blocks of mindfulness: attention and the present moment.
Automatic Thoughts, Automatic Responses
In this session, students experience the automatic nature of their thoughts and how these thoughts in turn automatically cause emotions to emerge.
In this session, students experience the judgmental nature of their mind, its problematic aspects and how to remove these obstacles to ‘open awareness’.
Acceptance and non reaction to difficult emotions
This session aims to clarify the essence of acceptance by learning to apply acceptance to difficult emotions and by explaining the goal of acceptance.
Goals- planning for the future
In this session, mindfulness is introduced as the key for finding a balance between being in the present moment and planning for the future.
In this session, students get to experience their inner critic and learn how to effectively cultivate a friendly and caring relationship with the self.
In this session, several exercises allow students to experience the difference between the self as a story and the self as an observer.
Integration- bringing it all together
In this final session, students will discover the connection between all covered mindfulness processes and focus on ways to continue integrating mindfulness in daily life.
